Hebel Downpour

We called into Hebel on the Queensland/NSW Border for an overight stay on the river, nice day - no problems. During the night the skies opened up - it was incredible. Needless to say we had no way of getting out yesterday as we were down a fairly steep bank of typical river clay soil. Spent all of yesterday "holed" up in the van, we couldn't even get out as you would sink down into 6 inches of slimy clay. NOT IMPRESSED . So we sat in the van all day, reading, playing scrabble, what a long day.To make matters worse we awoke to thunder rumbling this morning and very overcast skies and I thought that we would end up being stuck here for over a week. Had no idea when or how we would ever get out, had no white wine left and not much red, nothing to drown my frustrations with. We ended getting towed out this morning, fairly hair raising stuff, at one stage I thought the van was going to flip over and take the ute with it. Everyone up the top applauded and cheered us when we finally got out. Will head off in the morning, another day closer to home.

Outback Party

Boy, do they know how to party in the outback!. We had a great night last night, live band, heaps of noise, motorbikes and lots of people on Bundy - some as early as 9.30 in the morning. I'm quite sure that some of them never made it to the party. The fireworks were amazing, well worth hanging around here for. We will take off tomorrow - a big day ahead of us - we are travelling the huge distance of 34kms to a little place called Thallon. We will camp at the showgrounds there as we need to top up with water and do some washing etc. From there onto Hebel in NSW, then down to Brewarrina, Cobar, Hay, Lalbert then St Arnaud to collect all our mail/bills. Hope you are all well and happy, love you.

Nindigully Fireworks

Having a great time at this pub, there is a huge party on here tonight - actually 3 all combined into one big birthday bash. They are having a massive fireworks display so we have decided to stay another night and join in the festivities. Will probably leave tomorrow and slowly head a little further south into colder weather. Has been very cool and windy here - preparing us for the weather back home. More updates later -aren't you proud of us doing this!! We actually have some great people camped next to us and Liz is getting me started with this. Love you guys - can't wiat to see you all.
